Community Safety Alert – Car Break-Ins Reported
According to the newsletter emailed earlier today to residents, there have been reports of car break-ins on Bufflehead Street. While this is concerning, there are several steps we can take—individually and as a community—to help protect our property and deter further incidents.
Reminder: The HOA requires that exterior garage lights remain on at night. This simple measure helps increase visibility and discourage unwanted activity.
If you park on the street, please make sure your car doors are locked, and all valuables are removed. If your garage is currently used for storage, this may be a good time to consider making room for your vehicle.
Neighborhood Watch Signs: I still have a few signs available for $8 each. They come with a wooden post and are easy to install—just pound them into your front mulch area. These signs send a clear message that we’re watching out for one another.
Be aware of your surroundings. If you have valuables outside—bikes, tools, packages—please bring them inside. Get to know your neighbors, check in with one another, and don’t hesitate to report anything suspicious.
Reporting Tools: If you witness unusual activity, call 911 immediately. You can also use the See Send app to report non-emergency concerns directly to local authorities.
Maryland Law Reminder: Breaking into a car to steal it is generally classified as a felony. However, unlawfully entering a vehicle without theft may be considered a misdemeanor. Charges depend on the individual’s actions and intent.
Let’s stay alert, stay connected, and continue to look out for one another. Your vigilance makes a difference.

Your contribution will enable us to purchase additional street signs for key placement areas within Phase I of the community and the future expansion to Phase II of Cabin Branch. Please visit our Help Our Cause page to learn how you can help.
Thank you! We are very grateful for your support.
As you can see from our receipt the signs are not cheap! They are $43.40 each, adding graffiti protection is an extra $18.50/sign while shipping three signs cost $38.56. For every three signs ordered the cost is $224.26.
As a homeowner and resident of Cabin Branch you want your community to stay safe. The street signs are proven to deter crime and increase the security of our neighborhood.
Please help us in this effort. Visit our gofundme page to support our efforts today.

Do you know this man? This video only records the first 35 seconds of our conversation. This person did not identify himself or the company he allegedly was representing. Please be careful when opening your door to strangers and do not give him any personal information without verifying his identity with the business. You are also encouraged to call the non-emergency number when someone is currently at your door so Montgomery County Police can come to your address to verify them personally. The number is 301-279-8000.
Another resident reported a similar event on Thursday, May 5. Please be very careful giving out personal information and call the non-emergency number for any suspicious person or activity while they are at your address. The police will come out to investigate and verify the person. If you wait to call after the fact there is not much they can do.
